Our tasting room is conveniently located on Highway 101 about ½
mile south of Hopland. We are only an hour and a half north
of the Golden Gate Bridge and 30 minutes north of Healdsburg.
There are 10 wineries within a four mile radius of Milano - plenty
for a day wine tasting!
The old hop kiln where the winery and tasting room is located is
an invitingly serene setting to taste some of the best wines of
Mendocino County. The building is constructed of solid
redwood and stands as a reminder of the past when hops were a major
crop in the area. We have a covered picnic area next to the
seasonal creek where you can sit and observe many of our animals
roaming nearby. Enjoy interacting with our large land
tortoises, pygmy goats, pot-bellied pig, Sebastopol geese and
chickens. In the far pasture we have a llama and Jacob's
sheep roaming the hillside and keeping the vegetation well
The Tasting Room is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm except for
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. We have a well stocked
gift boutique to peruse while you taste our diverse collection of
whites, reds and dessert wines. We specialize in some of the
more unknown varietals such as Carignane, Charbono and Valdiguie as
well as the more known Zinfandel, Cabernet, and Merlot. Our
ports and late harvest wines are another specialty of Milano Family
Winery - we even have a Wine Club called Roba Dolce "sweet stuff"
in Italian that is only for our sweet style wines! Several
wines are made for the Wine Club Members only - very small lots of
specialized varietals and vineyards that are reserved only for Wine
Club Members to enjoy.
Tours of the winery by the winemaker, Deanna Starr, are
available by appointment.
Please come by and see us if you are in the area!
